This morning, Sunday, as the sun was shining we decided to drive a few minutes out of Builth to do a circular walk that includes part of the Epynt Way.
The guide we had found suggested it was a two and a half hour walk starting from the town centre but as we needed to get back to make some beds and open the Tea Rooms we drove the first bit and parked at the start of the bridleway (this is marked as ‘1’ on the map below, so follow the numbers and arrows on my map to do this particular route). To get to this spot drive from The Owls on the A483 towards Climery but turn left at the police station (Greyhound pub is on the right), this is Hospital Road, keep on this road past Caer Beris Manor and into the countryside. Take a right turn just before a house facing you signposted to ‘Llangammarch 6’. The parking for the bridleway is up this road on the left. Can’t miss it.
The walk took us a couple of hours but then I do ramble a bit and keep stopping not only to take photographs but also simply to look around. The sky was blue with fluffy ‘Simpsons’ clouds, daffodils were out and lambs were playing in the fields anxious to stay close to their mothers.
The walk is clearly marked as a bridleway pretty much all the way and starts in woodland then blossoms out to open high ground as you join the Epynt Way before dropping down through farmland and back on a quiet road to the parking.
Yet another glorious local walk.
