Cycling The Lon Las Cymru

There are many reasons to come to Builth Wells, it is in the middle and on the way or the way back from most places, in Wales. It is especially convenient for cycling routes and the Lon Las Cymru has come to our attention because we have had guests riding this route who stay with us. It is also known as Cycle Route 8 as part of the National Cycle Network scheme.

There are many reasons to come to Builth Wells, it is in the middle and on the way or the way back from most places, in Wales. The Lon Las Cymru runs for around 250 miles up, or down the whole length of Wales from Holyhead on Anglesey in the north to Cardiff in the south. On the way it takes in three mountain ranges, Snowdonia, The Cambrian Mountains and The Brecon Beacons. To do the whole length would take from between four days and a week depending on the pace you want to travel. There are a couple of variants – an alternative start point from Chepstow (NCN42) and deviations in Snowdonia (NCN82). On the Lon Las Cymru you will see some of the most stunning scenery in the British Isles and that includes the Wye Valley passing through Builth Wells.
