The story so far…

I don’t want to bore you with all the detail since the first two months are a book on their own, but having arrived in Wales to the sound of the Builth Wells Male Voice Choir and an evening of floodlit rugby, we never imagined so many challenges would be thrown at us in such a short space of time.

I don’t want to bore you with all the detail since the first two months are a book on their own, but having arrived in Wales to the sound of the Builth Wells Male Voice Choir and an evening of floodlit rugby, we never imagined so many challenges would be thrown at us in such a short space of time.

This has to be good because we have learnt so much about building and all associated trades and setting up a business from scratch (we didn’t think it was from scratch but oh boy it is!). We have met lots of amazing local and talented people who are helping us in our quest to open The Owls Bed and Breakfast.

Builth Wells is proving to be better than we imagined and this year we are experiencing extremes of weather with deep snow, sub-zero temperatures, torrential downpours and wall to wall winter sunshine in clear blue skies. The town on first acquaintance seems sleepy and from a by-gone era but the truth is it is vibrant and full of life. Everyone takes the time to chat and I’m sure to natter about the chats too. We love that five minutes walk from The Owls and we are in open countryside with breath taking views of hills and rivers and of course sheep.

As for the Owls we are so nearly ready to open our doors and share Builth Wells and Mid-Wales with friends old and new. This is such an adventure for us and we need more holidays here to experience everything there is to see and do. We are hoping you will come and discover new places and things to do that you can share with us and we can pass on to future guests.

See you soon…
